Beginning as meteorology enthusiast obsessed with weather models at the age of 10 years old, I’ve seen built a reliable skillset and keen insight in the field of cyclonic forecasting. My name is Andrew Van Gameren, and from 2020 through half of 2025, i’ve covered various severe weather events over the pacific northwest, from bomb cyclones, to atmospheric rivers, to blizzards, to heat domes and beyond!
However my passion narrowed onto storms in November 2024, as a powerful bomb cyclone spun up hurricane force winds over much of Vancouver Island. My forecast on this specific situation in particular featured incredible accuracy and useful specific details. But while this storm may have died out long ago, my passion for cyclones did not. It wasn’t easy for me to change my forecasting jurisdiction, considering i would be abandoning my loyal and faithful supporters in the pacific northwest, but around a half year later passion made me take the big step.
Fast forward to late June of 2025, and i shifted my forecasting over to the tropics, with one specific storm in mind, the most dangerous and feared weather system on earth… the tropical cyclone. Know as Hurricanes in the central and east pacific, as well as the Atlantic, typhoons in the western pacific, and cyclones in the indian ocean, i’ve been dedicated in providing frequent, accurate, and relevant forecasts internationally, from Taiwan to the Caribbean and beyond, i’ve covered typhoons Danas, Wipha, Kajiki, and Co-may to name a few.
Not long after making the big switch from a regional meteorologist to a tropical cyclone meteorologist, my brother has collaborated with me in my passion, and is now my partner in training. Together we intent to provide highly reliable and crucial forecast to those in the paths of these horrible disasters, by using an advanced blend of data gathered by Ensemble, Deterministic, Mesoscale, and high-reselution forecasting models.
